The Amazing and Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Scripture says:  “Pray without ceasing.” St. Paul of the Cross wrote: “We enter on the broad road of perdition when we neglect prayer.”  Dr. Alexis Carrel wrote:  “If you make a habit of prayer, your life will be profoundly altered.”  As a scientist he turned to prayer as man’s highest activity; that conversation with God to be an art of all arts. May these Pieta Prayer serve as a spiritual tool for souls who wish to increase their daily prayer life.  May the Dear Angels who carried the Holy House of Loreto introduce these prayers to all who wish to pray more after reciting the Daily Rosary.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

O GOD OUR CREATOR,  from Your Provident Hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  You have called us as Your people and given us the right and the duty to worship You, the only true God, and Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ.  Through the power and working of Your Holy Spirit, You call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.  We ask You to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Please give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened. Please give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of Your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Please grant, we pray, O Heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all Your sons and daughters gathered in Your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome—for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us—this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

I IMPLORE and exhort you, my beloved fathers, brethren, and children, in the following: Love the Lord with all your soul and all your heart. Be righteous and just, submissive, with bowed head and your mind turned towards heaven. Have contrition towards God and men. Be a consoler of the sorrowful, patient in trials, and not given to irritation, bountiful, merciful, a feeder of the poor, receiver of strangers, sorrowful for the sake of sins, joyful in God, hungry and thirsty, meek, patient, not a lover of glory, not a lover of gold, a lover of your neighbor, not hypocritical, not proud, a lover of labor for the sake of God, silent, pleasant in replies, fervent in fasting, in frequent prayers, vigils, and psalm-singing, sensible. Do not judge any man, but condemn yourself. And for this you will be the child of the Gospel, the son of the Resurrection, the inheritor of life in Christ Jesus our Lord. To Him may there be honor and power and worship, with the Father and the Most Holy Spirit, both now and forever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Revealed by Our Lord to St. Faustina

Marians of the Immaculate Conception Stockbridge, Massachusetts 01263  1-800-462-7426        Divine Mercy Novena

How to Recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of Mercy is recited using ordinary rosary beads of 5 decades. The Chaplet is preceded by 2 opening prayers from the Diary of Saint Faustina and followed by a closing prayer.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

 Optional Opening Prayer

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come; Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our Daily Bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, Full of Grace. The Lord is with You. Blessed are You among women, and blessed is the Fruit of Your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Eternal Father

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 Small Beads of Each Decade

For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Repeat for the remaining decades

Saying the “Eternal Father”  on the “Our Father” bead and then 10 “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion”  on the following “Hail Mary” beads.

Holy God, Holy Almighty God, Holy Immortal God,  have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Optional Closing Prayer

Eternal God, in Whom Mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion—inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your Mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, Which is Love and Mercy itself.

The Divine Mercy Novena of Chaplets

A Novena is typically 9 days of prayer in preparation of a celebration of a feast day. The first Novena was in the Acts of the Apostles from the Ascension of the Lord into heaven until Pentecost Sunday when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. The Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena is recited perpetually at the Hour of Great Mercy — the 3 o'clock hour.  The Chaplet can be said anytime, but the Lord specifically asked that it be recited as a Novena. He promised, "By this Novena (of Chaplets), I will grant every possible grace to souls."

For each of the 9 days, our Lord gave Saint Faustina a different intention:

All mankind, especially sinners; the souls of priests and religious; all devout and faithful souls; those who do not believe in God and those who do not yet know Jesus; the souls who have separated themselves from the Church; the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children; the souls who especially venerate and glorify His mercy; the souls detained in purgatory; and souls who have become lukewarm. "I desire that during these 9 days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever grace they have need of in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death."

What You Can Do

You, too, can make a novena of prayer for these intentions and others, especially by praying the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

First Day

"Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND, ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My Mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me."

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust, which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful Gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion show us Your Mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your Mercy forever and ever. Amen.

Day 2 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS, and immerse them in My Unfathomable Mercy. It was they who gave Me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My Mercy flows out upon mankind."

Most Merciful Jesus, from Whom comes all that is good, increase Your Grace in men and women consecrated to Your service, that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy Who is in heaven.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful Gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard—upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless Mercy for ages without end. Amen.

Day 3 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me ALL DEVOUT AND FAITHFUL SOULS, and immerse then in the ocean of My Mercy. The souls brought Me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness. "

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your Mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the Heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful Gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless Mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Day 4 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD AND THOSE WHO DO NOT YET KNOW ME. I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My Mercy."

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Day 5 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO HAVE SEPARATED THEMSELVES FROM MY CHURCH, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church, My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful Gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Day 6 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE MEEK AND HUMBLE SOULS AND THE SOULS OF LITTLE CHILDREN, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is capable of receiving My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence."

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, "Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart." Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father's favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Day 7 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ESPECIALLY VENERATE AND GLORIFY MY MERCY,* and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death."

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful Gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless Mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God:  Show them Your Mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory. Amen.

*The text leads one to conclude that in the first prayer directed to Jesus, Who is the Redeemer, it is "victim" souls and contemplatives that are being prayed for; those persons, that is, that voluntarily offered themselves to God for the salvation of their neighbor (see Col 1:24; 2 Cor 4:12). This explains their close union with the Savior and the extraordinary efficacy that their invisible activity has for others. In the second prayer, directed to the Father from Whom comes "every worthwhile gift and every genuine benefit," we recommend the "active" souls, who promote devotion to The Divine Mercy and exercise with it all the other works that lend themselves to the spiritual and material uplifting of their brethren.

Day 8 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ARE DETAINED IN PURGATORY, and immerse them in the abyss of My Mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My Justice."

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.

Day 9 of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me SOULS WHO HAVE BECOME LUKEWARM,* and immerse them in the abyss of My Mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.' For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My Mercy."

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His 3-hour Agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your Mercy. Amen.

*To understand who are the souls designated for this day, and who in the Diary are called 'lukewarm,' but are also compared to ice and to corpses, we would do well to take note of the definition that the Savior Himself gave to them when speaking to St. Faustina about them on one occasion: There are souls who thwart My efforts (1682). Souls without love or devotion, souls full of egoism and selfishness, proud and arrogant souls full of deceit and hypocrisy, lukewarm souls who have just enough warmth to keep themselves alive: My Heart cannot bear this. All the graces that I pour out upon them flow off them as off the face of a rock. I cannot stand them because they are neither good nor bad (1702).

Sister Mary Martha Chambon

Soeur Marie-Marthe Chambon Religieuse de la Visitation Ste-Marie de Chambon 1841-1907      Monastere de la Visitation

Prayers and Heavenly Promises         ISBN: 9780895553973

Sr. Mary Martha Chambon (1841-1907) was a lay Sister of the Monastery of the Visitation Order in Chambry, France.  During her life, Jesus Himself is said to have revealed to her the following 2 invocations, giving her the double mission to adore and invoke the Sacred Wounds unceasingly and to revive this devotion in the hearts of creatures.  She died in the odor of sanctity on 21 March 1907, and the cause for her beatification has been introduced.

Eternal Father I offer You the Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ
to heal the wounds of our souls.

My Jesus, pardon and mercy through the merits of Your Sacred Wounds.

Here are some statements Jesus is said to have made to Sr. Mary Martha about this devotion:
"Come to My Wounds with hearts burning with love, and make the aspirations with great fervor that you may obtain the graces and favors you desire.  Come to this Wound in My Side; it is the Wound of Love from which issue flames of fire"
"You must pray that the knowledge of My Sacred Wounds may spread in the world".  (As He said these words, Sr. Mary Martha saw 5 luminous rays of glory issue from the Wounds of Christ, and envelop the globe.)
"My Holy Wounds sanctify souls and insure their spiritual advancement...Offer Me your actions united to My Sacred Wounds, and even the smallest will have an incomprehensible value"
"Offer them often to Me for sinners because I thirst for souls. At each word of the invocation that you utter, I will let a drop of My Blood fall upon the soul of a sinner."
"When you offer My Holy Wounds for sinners, you must not forget to do so for the souls in Purgatory, as there are but few who think of their relief.  The Holy Wounds are the treasure of treasures for the souls in Purgatory."

This devotion presents itself as surrounded by the most encouraging promises.
"I shall grant all what will be requested to me through the invocation to my Holy Wounds. You need to spread this devotion."
"You shall obtain all things, because it is the merit of My Blood Which is of an infinite price."
"With My Wounds and My Divine Heart, you can obtain all things."
"From My Wounds come out fruits of holiness. My Wounds shall repair yours."

This devotion contains precious advantages for the detail of daily life.
"When you experience some sorrow, or have something to suffer, you need to bring it hastily into My Wounds, and your sorrow shall be softened."
"Offer Me your actions... united to My Holy Wounds, there are incomprehensible riches, even into the least ones."
You need to have recourse to it in favor of the Sick.
"You have to often repeat before the sick this invocation: "My Jesus, pardon and mercy, through the merits of Your Holy Wounds! " This prayer shall soothe both the soul and body."
In Favor of the Dying.
"There shall be no death for the soul who will expire in My Wounds: they give true life." "The Way of My Wounds is so simple, so easy to reach Heaven!..."
In Favor of Sinners.
"My Wounds shall cover all your faults. Offer them to Me often for sinners, for: I thirst for souls."
"The sinner who will say the following prayer: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ to heal those of our souls", shall obtain his own conversion".
"This Chaplet of Mercy balances My Justice, it stops My vengeance."

Excerpts from her revelations. Actual words of Our Lord and Blessed Mother to St. Bridget of Sweden, giving intimate details of their lives on earth, including the hidden life of Our Lord and Our Lady in Nazareth, plus the early life of Our Lady and the birth of Our Lord.  First published in 1492. Prayers Approved by Pope Pius IX

Pope Benedict XV expressed himself as follows on the Revelations of St. Bridget:
“The approbation of such revelations implies nothing more than, after mature examination, it is permissible to publish them for the unit of the faithful.  Though they don’t merit the same credence as the truths of religion, one can, however, believe them out of human faith, conforming to the rules of prudence by which they are probable, and supported by sufficient motives that one might believe in them piously. (Les Petits Bollandistes, tome XII)   Sagii, die XXIV Aprilis 1903   Imprimature.  FJ. Girard, V.G.

These prayers can serve as the Way of the Cross.

Visitors to the Church of St. Paul at Rome can see the crucifix, above the Tabernacle in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, sculptured by Pierre Cavallini, before which St. Bridge knelt when she received these 15 prayers from Our Lord.  The following inscription is placed in the Church to commemorate the event: “Pendentis, Pendente Dei verba accepit aure accipit et verbum corde Brigitta Deum.  Anno Jubilei MCCCL.”
As St. Bridget for a long time wanted to know the number of blows Our Lord received during His Passion, He one day appeared to her and said: “I received 5480 blows on My Body.  If you wish to honor them in some way, say 15 Our Fathers and 15 Hail Mary’s with the following Prayers (which He taught her) for a whole year.  When the year is up, you will have honored each one of My Wounds.”
First Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary
O Jesus Christ!  Eternal Sweetness to those who love You, joy surpassing all joy and all desire, Salvation and Hope of all sinners. You have proved that You have no greater desire than to be among men, even assuming human nature at the fullness of time for the love of men.  Recall all the sufferings You have endured from the first moment of Your conception, and especially during Your Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the Divine plan. Remember, O Lord, that during the Last Super with Your disciples, having washed their feet, You gave them Your Most Precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time You sweetly consoled them, You foretold to them Your coming Passion. Remember the sadness and bitterness which You experienced in Your Soul as You Yourself bore witness saying: “My Soul is sorrowful even unto death.” Remember all the fear, anguish and pain that You suffered in Your sensitive Body before the torment of the Crucifixion, when, after having prayed 3 separate times, bathed in a sweat of Blood, You were betrayed by judas, Your disciple, arrested by the people of a nation You had chosen and elevated, accused by false witnesses, unjustly judged by 3 judges, all this, in the spring of Your life and during the solemn Paschal season.
Remember that You were despoiled of Your garments and clothed in garments of derision; that Your Face and Eyes were veiled, that You were buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed in Your Hands, that You was crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages. In memory of all these pains and sufferings, which You endured before Your Passion on the Cross, please grant me before my death true contrition, a sincere and entire confession, worthy satisfaction and the remission of all my sins.  Amen
2nd Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary
O Jesus! True liberty of angels, Paradise of delights, remember the horror and sadness which You endured when Your enemies, like furious lions, surrounded You, and by thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented You at will.  In consideration of these torments and insulting words, I beg You, O my Savior, please deliver me from all my enemies, visible and invisible, and please bring me, under Your protection, to the perfection of eternal salvation.  Amen
3rd Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus!  Creator of Heaven and earth Whom nothing can encompass or limit, You Who  enfold and hold all under Your Loving power, remember the very bitter pain You suffered when the Jews nailed Your Sacred Hands and Feet to the Cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding You in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged Your Wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched Your Body on the Cross, pulling on You from all sides, thus dislocating Your Limbs.  I beg of You, O Jesus, by the memory of this most Loving suffering of the Cross, to grant me the grace to fear You and to Love You.  Amen.
4th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Heavenly Physician, raised aloft on the Cross to heal our wounds with Yours, remember the bruises which You suffered and the weakness of all Your Members which were distended to such a degree that never was there pain like unto Yours.  From the Crown of Your Head to the Soles of Your Feet there was not one spot on Your Body that was not in torment, and yet, forgetting all Your Sufferings, You did not cease to pray to Your Heavenly Father for Your enemies, saying “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”  Through this Great Mercy, and in memory of this Suffering, grant that the remembrance of Your Most Bitter Passion may effect in us a perfect contrition and the remission of all our sins.  Amen.
5th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Mirror of eternal splendor, remember the sadness which You experienced, when contemplating in the light of Your Divinity the predestination of those who would be saved by the merits of Your Sacred passion, You saw at the same time, the great multitude of reprobates who would be damned for their sins, and You complained bitterly of those hopeless lost and unfortunate sinners. Through this abyss of compassion and pity, and especially through the goodness which You displayed to the good thief when You said to him: “This day, you shall be with Me in Paradise.”  I beg of You, O Sweet Jesus, that at the hour of my death, You will show me Mercy.  Amen.
6th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Beloved and most desirable King, remember the grief You suffered, when naked and like a common criminal, You was fastened and raised on the Cross, when all Your relatives and friends abandoned You, except Your Beloved Mother, who remained close to You during Your Agony and whom You entrusted to Your faithful disciple when You said to Mary:  “Woman, behold Your son!”  and to St. John: “Son, behold Your Mother!”   I beg of You O my Savior, by the sword of sorrow which pierced the soul of Your Holy Mother, to have compassion on me in all my affliction and tribulations, both corporal and spiritual, and to assist me in all my trials, and especially at the hour of my death. Amen
7th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Inexhaustible Fountain of compassion, Who by a profound gesture of Love, said from the Cross: “I thirst!” suffered from the thirst for the salvation of the human race.  I beg of You O my Savior, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward perfection in all our acts; and to extinguish in us the concupiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires.  Amen
8th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Sweetness of hearts, delight of the spirit, by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall which You tasted on the Cross for Love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily Your Precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death, that They may serve as a remedy and consolation for our souls.  Amen
9th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Royal virtue, joy of the mind, recall the pain You endured when, plunged in an ocean of bitterness at the approach of death, insulted, outraged by the Jews, You cried out in a loud voice that You were abandoned by Your Father, saying: “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?”  Through this anguish, I beg of You, O my Savior, not to abandon me in the terrors and pains of my death. Amen
10th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Who are the beginning and end of all things, life and virtue, remember that for our sakes You were plunged in an abyss of suffering from the soles of Your Feet to the Crown of Your Head.  In consideration of the enormity of Your Wounds, teach me to keep, through pure love, Your Commandments, whose way is wide and easy for those who love You.  Amen
11th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Deep Abyss of Mercy, I beg of You, in memory of Your Wounds which penetrated to the very marrow of Your Bones and to the depth of Your Being, to draw me, the miserable sinner, overwhelmed by my offenses, away from sin and to hide me from Your Holy Face justly irritated against me, hide me in Your Sacred Wounds, until Your Anger and Righteous Indignation shall have passed away.  Amen
12th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Mirror of Truth, symbol of unity, link of Charity, remember the multitude of Wounds with which You were covered from Head to Foot, torn and reddened by the spilling of Your Adorable Blood.  O great and universal pain which You suffered in Your Virginal Flesh for love of us!  Sweetest Jesus!  What is there that You could have done for us which You have not done? May the fruit of Your Sufferings be renewed in my soul by the faithful remembrance of Your Passion, and may Your love increase in my heart each day, until I see You in eternity, You Who are the Treasury of every real good and every joy, which I beg You to grant me, O sweetest Jesus, in Heaven.  Amen
13th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  Strong Lion, Immortal and Invincible King, remember the pain which You endured when all Your strength, both moral and physical, was entirely exhausted, You bowed Your head, saying: “It is finished!”  Through this anguish and grief, I beg of You Lord Jesus, to have mercy on me at the hour of my death when my mind will be greatly troubled and my soul will be in anguish.  Amen
14th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus! Only Son of the Father, Splendor and Figure of His Substance remember the simple and humble recommendation You made of Your Soul to Your Eternal Father, saying: “Father, into Your Hands I commend My Spirit!”  And with Your Body all torn, and Your Heart broken, and the Infinite debts of Your Mercy open to redeem us, You  expired.  By this Precious Death, I beg of You O King of Saints, comfort me and help me to resist the world, the flesh and the devil, so that being dead to the world I may live for You alone.  I beg of You at the hour of my death to receive me, a pilgrim and an exile returning to You. Amen
15th Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary.
O Jesus!  True and fruitful Vine!  Remember the abundant outpouring of Blood, which You so generously shed from Your Sacred Body as juice from grapes in a wine press.  From Your Side,  pierced with a lance by a soldier, Blood and Water issued forth until there was not left in Your Body a single drop, and finally, like a bundle of myrrh lifted to the top of the Cross, Your sensitive Flesh was destroyed, the very Substance of Your Body withered, and the Marrow of Your Bones dried up.  Through this bitter Passion and through the outpouring of Your Precious Blood, I beg of You, O Sweet Jesus, to receive my soul when I am in my death agony.  Amen
O Sweet Jesus!  Pierce my heart so that my tears of repentance and love will be my bread day and night; may I be converted entirely to You, may my heart be Your perpetual habitation, may every thought and imagination of my heart be pleasing to You, and my the end of my life be so praiseworthy that I may merit Heaven and there with Your saints, praise You forever.  Amen

 To the Blessed Virgin

My Queen, my Mother, I give myself entirely to You, and to show my devotion to You, I consecrate to You this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve.  Wherefore good Mother as I am Your own, keep me, guard me, as Your property and possession.  Amen

Prayer to St. Joseph over 1900 years old

O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.  O St. Joseph please assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my Thanksgiving and Homage to the Loving of Fathers.  O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms.  I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.  Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.  St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, please pray for us.  Amen

Glory be to Jesus and Mary

A letter written by the Blessed Virgin Mary to the City of Messina where St. Paul, the Apostle preached the Gospel, which has been preserved in the Reliquary of the great altar.

“I, Mary Virgin, servant of God, very humble Mother of Jesus Christ, Son of God, the Almighty and Eternity, to all who are in Messina, health and benediction in our Lord.  You have learned by the ambassadors who have been sent to you.  You received the gospel and you acknowledged that the Son of God has become man, and has suffered the Passion and Death for the Salvation of the world, and that He is Christ and also the true Messiah.  I beg you to persevere, promising to you, and all your posterity, to assist you in the Presence of My Son.”    Mary Virgin, very humble servant of God

Hail Mary of Gold

Hail Mary, White Lily of the Glorious and always serene Trinity.  Hail brilliant Rose of the Garden of heavenly delights:  O You, by whom God wanted to be born and by whose milk the King of Heaven wanted to be nourished!  Nourish our souls with effusions of Divine grace.  Amen!
At the hour when the soul, which has thus greeted Me quits the body I’ll appear to them in such splendid beauty that they’ll taste, to their great consolation, something of the joys of Paradise.  The Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Gertrude the Great.  (Revelations Book 3, Chapter 18)

These prayers are very useful to a dying person, and should be prayed often as an act of mercy.

There once was a Pope in Rome who was surrounded by many sins.  The Lord God struck him with a fatal illness.  When he saw that he was dying he summoned Cardinals, Bishops and learned persons and said to them:  “My dear friends! What comfort can you give me now that I must die, and when I deserve eternal damnation for my sins?”  No one answered him.  One of them, a pious curate named John, said: “Father, why do you doubt the Mercy of God?”  The Pope replied: “What comfort can you give me now that I must die and fear that I’ll be damned for my sins?” John replied:  “I’ll read 3 prayers over you; I hope, you’ll be comforted and that you’ll obtain Mercy from God.”  The Pope was unable to say more.  The curate and all those present knelt and said an Our Father, then the following prayers:
Prayer 1.
Lord Jesus Christ!  Son of God and Son of the Virgin Mary, God and Man, You Who in fear sweated Blood for us on the Mount of Olives in order to bring peace, and to offer Your Most Holy Death to God Your Heavenly Father for the salvation of this dying person…  If it be, however, that by his sins he merits eternal damnation, then may it be deflected from him.  This, O Eternal Father through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Dear Son, Who lives and reigns in union with The Holy Spirit now and forever.  Amen.
Prayer 2.
Lord Jesus Christ!  You Who meekly died on the trunk of the Cross for us, submitting Your Will completely to Your Heavenly Father in order to bring peace and to offer Your Most Holy Death to Your Heavenly Father in order to free…(this person)…and to hide from him what he has earned with his sins; grant this O Eternal Father!  Through Our Lord Jesus Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in union with the Holy Spirit now and forever.  Amen.
Prayer 3.
Lord Jesus Christ!  You Who remained silent to speak through the mouths of the Prophets;  I have drawn You to me through Eternal Love, which love drew You from Heaven into the body of the Virgin, which love drew You from the body of the Virgin into the valley of this needful world, which Love kept You 33 years in this world, and as a sign of Great Love, You have given Your Holy Body as True Food and Your Holy Blood as True drink, as a sign of great love, You has consented to be a prisoner and to be led from one judge to another and as a sign of great love You has consented to be condemned to Death, and have consented to die and to be buried and truly rise, and appeared to Your Holy Mother and all the Holy Apostles, and as a sign of great love You have ascended, under Your own strength and power, and sit at the Right Hand of God Your Heavenly Father, and You have sent Your Holy Spirit into the heart of Your Apostles and the hearts of all who hope and believe in You.  Through Your sign of Eternal love, open heaven today and take this dying person… and all his sins into the realm of Your Heavenly Father, that he may reign with You now and forever.  Amen.

Meanwhile the Pope died.  The curate persevered to the third hour, then the Pope appeared to him in body and comforting him; his face as brilliant as the sun, his clothes as white as snow, and he said:  “My dear brother!  Whereas I was supposed to be a child of damnation I’ve become a child of happiness.  As you recited the first prayer many of my sins fell from me as rain from Heaven, and as you recited the second Prayer I was purified, as a goldsmith purifies gold in a hot fire.  I was still further purified as you recited the third prayer.  Then I saw Heaven open and the Lord Jesus standing on the Right Hand of God the Father Who said to me:  “Come, all Your sins are forgiven you, you’ll be and remain in the realm of My Father forever.  Amen!” With these words my soul separated from my body and the Angels of God led it to Eternal Joy.  As the curate heard this he said: “O Holy Father! I can’t tell these things to anyone, for they won’t believe me.”  Then the Pope said: “Truly I tell you, the Angel of God stands with me and has written the prayers in letters of gold for the consolment of all sinners.  If a person had committed all the sins in the world, but that the 3 prayers shall have been read (over him) at his end (death), all his sins will be forgiven him, even though his soul was supposed to suffer until the Last Judgement, it will be redeemed (freed).  The person who hears them read, he won’t die an unhappy death also in whose house they will be read.  Therefore take these prayers and carry them into St. Peter’s Basilica and lay them in the Chapel named the Assumption of Mary, for certain consolation.  The person who will be near death, who reads them or hears them read gains 400 years indulgence for the days he was supposed to suffer in Purgatory because of his guilt.  Also who reads this prayer or hears it read, the hour of his death shall be revealed to him. Amen!

An Act of Contrition
O my God, I am very sorry for all my sins with all my heart. I realize that I deserve eternal damnation in hell because of them. I have offended You my God Who are ALL HOLY and deserving of all my love.  I firmly resolve with the help of Your Grace to confess my sins, to do penance, to avoid the near occasions of sin, and to engraft Your Holy Scriptures into my heart (Ps 119:11). For who is like You O God Who loved me so much that You sent Your Only Begotten Son that I who believe in Him may not perish but have everlasting life  Amen (Ps 113 and John 3:16).

Your prayers are strongest at the Consecration in Holy Mass (raising of Host and Chalice).  Each time we look at The Most Blessed Sacrament our place in Heaven is raised forever. (revealed by Our Lord to St. Gertrude the Great).

Prayer to Obtain the Grace of All World’s Masses

Eternal Father we humbly offer You our poor presence and that of the whole of humanity from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed.  We offer You all the pains, suffering, prayers, sacrifices, joys and relaxations of our lives, in union with those of our dear Lord Jesus here on earth.  May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood and Wounds and Agony save us, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Amen!

Dear St. Philomena pray for us for that purity of mind and heart, which lead to the perfect love of God!

"Knowing that I need all the help I can get to get to heaven, it would be spiritually suicidal for me to neglect

the Blessed Mother; I could perish in my sins and be damned."   (Dr. Thomas Joshua)

Holy Communion

Each time we receive Holy Communion our venial sins are forgiven.

Christ revealed to St. Gertrude the Great that each time 1 person receives Holy Communion, something good happens to every being in heaven on earth and in purgatory.

Each time we receive Communion our place in Heaven is raised forever, our stay in Purgatory shortened.

The value of a Spiritual Communion well made is enormous.  We can and should make one frequently.  Simply think on Jesus and how much He loves us and how much we love Him, then ask Our Blessed Mother to ask Her Divine Son to come into our hearts.  We can offer these Communions for the interest of the Sorrowful and Immaculate heart of Mary, noting our special intention!

After receiving Holy Communion Our Lord said we should pray: “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus may the whole world burn with love for You!   (revelation to Gabrielle Bossis in France)

The Holy Face of Jesus

Top of Form

The Life & Revelations of Sr. Mary of St. Peter (1816-1848) on Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus. At Tours, France, she received this devotion from Our Lord 1) to fight Communism, 2) to make reparation, 3) to be an unfailing tool of prayer. Approved worldwide. IMPRIMATUR

"You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord shall not leave unpunished him who takes His Name in vain" (EX. 20:7)

"A man who swears much shall be filled with iniquity and a scourge shall not depart from his house." (Sir. 23:12)

St. John Vianney, the holy priest of Ars: "God gave men only 10 Commandments and one of the 10 has for its sole object the reverence due to His Name." He used to say that it was an astounding miracle that people who used His Name in vain were not struck dead on the spot. But he warned them, "If the sin of blasphemy is rampant in your home, it will surely perish."

Often His Holy Name is used as an expression of speech, for instance: "My God!" with no real thought of God or calling upon Him. Let us always strive to love and honor the Holy Name of God, using His Name only in prayer and adoration and thanksgiving.

Please repeat often to appease God's Wrath toward our sinful nation.

'Admirable is Your Holy Name O God'
May Your Holy Face Lord Jesus be
O Lord, show us Your Face, and we shall be saved!

"By offering My Face to My Eternal Father, nothing will be refused, and the conversion of many sinners will he obtained."– Our Lord To Sr. Mary of St. Peter – 11/1846

to Sr. Mary of St. Peter in favor of those who honor His Holy Face.
1.    "By My Holy Face you shall work miracles."
2.    "By My Face you will obtain the conversion of many sinners."
3.    "Nothing that you ask in making this offering will be refused to you."
4.    "If you knew how pleasing the Sight of My Face is to My Father."
5.    "As in a kingdom you can procure all you wish for with a coin marked with the King’s effigy,
so in the Kingdom of Heaven you will obtain all you desire with the precious coin of My Holy Face."
6.    "Our Lord has promised me that He will imprint His Divine likeness on the souls of those who honor His Most Holy Face."
7.    "All those who honor My Holy Face in a spirit of reparation will, by so doing, perform the office of the pious Veronica."
8.    "According to the care you take in making reparation to My Face, disfigured by blasphemies, so will I take care of yours,
which has been disfigured by sin. I will reprint therein My image and render it as beautiful as it was on leaving the Baptismal font."
9.    "Our Lord promised me that all those who defend His cause in this work of reparation, by words,
by prayers, or in writing, He will defend them before His Father; at their death He will purify their souls
by effacing all the blots of sin and will restore to them their primitive beauty."

An Act of Praise and Reparation

Dictated by Our Lord to Sr. Mary of St. Peter

MAY the Most Holy, Most Sacred, Most Adorable, Most Incomprehensible and Ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in Heaven, on earth, and in the hells*, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.  Amen.   * (Purgatory and Hell where the Justice of God is glorified )

O LORD Jesus Christ, I present myself before Your Adorable Face to ask of You the Graces of which I stand most in need. I beg You, above all, to grant me that interior disposition of never refusing at any time to do what You require of me by Your Holy Commandments and Divine Inspirations. Amen.

O Good Jesus, You have said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," grant us, O Lord, that faith which obtains all, or supply in us what may be deficient; grant us, by the pure effect of Your charity, and for Your eternal glory, the Graces which we need and which we look for from Your Infinite Mercy.  Amen.

BE MERCIFUL to us, O my God, and reject not our prayers, when amid our afflictions, we call upon Your Holy Name and seek with love and confidence Your Adorable Face. Amen.

O ALMIGHTY and Eternal God, look upon the Holy Face of Your Divine Son Jesus. We present It to You with confidence, to implore Your pardon. The All-Merciful Advocate pleads our cause; hearken to His cries, behold His tears, O God, and through His infinite merits hearken to Him when He intercedes for us poor miserable sinners. Amen.

ADORABLE Face of my Jesus, my only love, my light and my life, grant that I may know, love and serve You alone, that I may live with You, of You, by You and for You. Amen.

ETERNAL Father, I offer You the Adorable Face of Your Beloved Son for the praise, honor and glory of Your Holy Name, for the conversion of sinners and for the salvation of the dying.

O DIVINE Jesus, through Your Holy Face and Name, save us. Our hope is in the virtue of Your Holy Name!

Sr. Maria Consolata Betrone, Mother and Mystic of the church

Sr. Maria Consolata Betrone (1903-1946, Italy) after reading St. Therese of Lisieux’s Story of a Soul. Consolata herself was granted mystical experiences, but she is particularly remembered for her “very small way” which can be summed up in the following 3 points which are the nucleus of Our Lord’s instructions to her:

  1. Offer an unceasing act of love from the heart: Jesus, Mary I love You, Save Souls!

  2. Have a smiling “yes” for everyone, to see and treat Jesus in everyone.

  3. Have a grateful “yes” for everything.

An act of love is also an act of reparation: the Lord told Consolata: A “Jesus, I love You” repairs a thousand blasphemies. The importance of this brief but powerful invocation can be understood by Jesus’ own words: “All I ask for is this: a continuous act of love: JESUS, MARY I LOVE YOU, SAVE SOULS…”

He invited Consolata to intensify the prayer, and to make no delay: “Don’t waste time: every act of love is a soul! Of all the gifts, the best gift you can offer Me is a day full of love. I desire an uninterrupted Jesus, Mary I love You, save souls! from when you get up in the morning till when you go to bed at night.”

The act of love that Jesus wants is much more than lip service. It must be interiorized: with one’s mind that concentrates on loving, with one’s will that wants to love, with one’s heart that loves. The formula Jesus, Mary I love You, save souls is just a help.

In Christian mysticism a victim soul is by no doubt the highest state one could aspire to. In a certain sense, one could say it was both a compendium of all vocations, and a crown upon them all. But we must understand the meaning of victim. A victim soul is a person who offers himself willingly, and even if he is to suffer, he does not offer himself to suffering itself, but to the Man of Sorrows, out of love, to share in His passion of love. Yes, he is a person who sacrifices himself, but in the sense given by the Old Covenant: that is, to offer a sacred gift to God.

Consolata Betrone, of the order of the Poor Clares, lived near Turin in the first half of last century (1903-1946), and was without doubt a victim soul who had the courage to respond to the cry of Jesus: “I thirst for victims to save the world. I thirst for brides, not for nuns; and in this precise moment I need victims more than I need brides,” and she offered herself as a holocaust (sacrifice that is burnt till it is totally consumed, as in the biblical sense). And she made her offering for the sake of “each soul in the entire universe, that Jesus might save them all,” and in particular for the priests and religious who were not faithful to their vows or who denied their vocation.

Inspired by Thérèse of Lisieux, she had the audacity to be “that soul that was weaker than mine, littler than mine” whom the holy Carmelite nun had said “would receive still greater graces, if it abandoned itself with absolute confidence to God’s Infinite Mercy.” And Consolata was that soul. Of her Jesus said: “In the womb of the Church you will be trust… I am very pleased with the blind trust, infantile trust, boundless, immense trust that you have in Me… Never allow, not even for an instant, that the enemy should penetrate your soul with the thought of mistrust, ever! Believe in Me as only and always good; believe in Me as only and always a mother for you… Consolata, understand My Heart… tell the world how good and motherly I am… I am and I love being Exclusively Good and Merciful with My creatures. Don’t paint Me as a severe God, if I am a God of love… I shall save the world with Merciful Love!”

To console Jesus for the great mistrust in His Goodness and Mercy, Pierina Betrone took the name Consolata (she who is consoled) when she took her vows, in a desire to console the Heart of Jesus and all those who weren’t able to perceive and receive the Lord’s love. And it was Jesus Himself Who showed her not only the way to console Him but also how to “love Him as none other had loved Him and to save souls that none other had saved.” This way is the unceasing act of love“Jesus, Mary I love you, save souls!” that the Redeemer called the very small way of love and trust. It wasn’t meant just for her, but for all little souls, since the Lord wants: “the triumph in the world not only of Mercy, but especially of Love, particularly in the very little souls.”

“Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls encompasses everything,” the Lord had told her: love for Him and for creatures: “the souls in Purgatory and the souls in the Militant Church; the innocent soul and the guilty soul; the dying, the atheist, etc… Do not lose time; remember that every act of love is a soul.” This act of love, if uninterrupted, is destined to cut off the roots of all evil, and to remove life from the old man so that the new man may live and be only and totally love for God (Jesus, Mary I love you) and only and totally love for men (save souls). It is an evangelical way in the true meaning of the word, for it requires that one should remain continuously in His love, to have Christ’s own sentiments, to have no other time except to think of loving Jesus and Mary and saving souls. This is equal to the perfect denial of self that Jesus asked of His disciples.

It is for this reason that Jesus told Consolata that she would have been annihilated by an uninterrupted act of love. She experienced that “to be an uninterrupted virginal act of love, one must disappear,” disappear before creatures and before one’s own eyes, so as to follow with all one’s might – in profound silence and in love – “God alone, till all is fulfilled.” This Poor Clare’s radical response prompted her: “to never attempt to make myself happy: neither through food, nor drink, nor rest, nor clothes, nor tastes, nor preferences; but to seek total annihilation of my will, my due, my personal work… annihilation of the tongue… respond only when necessary and with an act of love.”

To live this act of love without interruption, with all one’s being, in times of consolation and in times of trial, requires heroism, it requires stripping of self, but it makes the heart pure, and it unifies it. It is similar to prayer of the heart, but it is even greater, for it not only unites one to Jesus, but to God through Jesus and Mary. It unites the soul to their Hearts which are offered in sacrifice to the Father as a sacrifice of love for the sake of souls.

Jesus and Mary cannot be separated, just as one cannot separate God’s love from the offering of self for the salvation of our brethren. For Consolata, in fact, love for Jesus and Mary could not be separated. It was this love that generated her love for souls. At the end of her earthly life she said: “ Oh, I am certain that one day when the Divine Heart will show me to the world He will say only one thing: ‘She trusted me! She believed in me.’ Yes, Jesus will do great things, and I already join myself to the Blessed Virgin to sing the Magnificat. A few more months and Consolata will become Consolatrix (she who consoles). Yes, with love I shall bend down over every heart that groans, that suffers, that despairs, that swears, that curses… How I feel sorry for those who suffer…”

It was this divine love for souls that made her desire Paradise so that she could do good for all. Now that Sr. Consolata is in the Father’s bosom, her thirst to do good is entirely satisfied according to the Lord’s promise: “Yes, your Jesus will grant it to you: you shall tend your ear to all the sorrows of the earth, you shall wrench from me the greatest graces, and from each soul - in recompense - you shall be everyone’s Consolata.”

Heaven Opened by the practice of THE 3 HAIL MARYS

One of the greatest means of salvation and one of the surest signs of predestination, is unquestionably, the devotion to the Most Blessed Virgin. All the holy doctors of the Church are unanimous in saying with St. Alphonsus of Liguori: "A devout servant of Mary shall never perish." The chief thing is to persevere faithfully till death in this devotion.

Numerous examples show how agreeable the 3 Hail Marys Devotion is to the Heavenly Mother and what special graces it draws, during life and at the hour of death, on those who never omit it for a single day.

This practice was revealed to St. Melchtilde (13th century) while she was asking Our Blessed Mother to assist her in her hour of death. Our Lady appeared to her and said: "I will, certainly. But I also want you to say 3 special Hail Marys to me every day.

"The first will be in honor of God the Father, Whose Omnipotence raised my soul so high above every other creature that after God I have the greatest power in heaven and on earth. In the hour of your death I will use that power of God the Father to keep any hostile power far from you.

"The second Hail Mary will be said in honor of the Son of God Who communicated His Inscrutable Wisdom to me. In the hour of your death I will fill your soul with the light of that wisdom so that all the darkness of ignorance and error will be dispelled.

"The third Hail Mary will be in honor of God the Holy Spirit Who filled my soul with the sweetness of His love and tenderness and mercy. In your last hour I will then change the bitterness of death into divine sweetness and delight."

Our Blessed Mother also revealed to St. Gertrude the Great: "To any soul who faithfully prays the 3 Hail Marys, I will appear at the hour of death in a splendor so extraordinary that it will fill the soul with heavenly consolation."

St. Leonard of Port Maurice, the celebrated missionary, had the 3 Hail Marys recited morning and evening in honor of Mary Immaculate, to obtain the grace of avoiding all mortal sins during the day or night; moreover he promised in a special manner eternal salvation to all those who proved constantly faithful to this practice. He gave this devotion of 3 Hail Marys as a penance in the confessional, especially for those who were struggling with sins of impurity.

Practice: Recite morning and evening, 3 Hail Marys in honor of the 3 great privileges bestowed upon Our Blessed Mother by the Most Blessed Trinity with this invocation at the end: for the morning: "O my Mother preserve me from mortal sin during this day." For the evening: "O my Mother preserve me from mortal sin during this night."

(Pope St. Pius X gave his Apostolic Blessing to this practice.)

The Hail Mary: Hail Mary, Full of Grace; the Lord is with You: blessed are You among women and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The greatest charity we can show our neighbors is to help them save their souls.

Lord, You are my strength and my glory; You are my salvation.

447   Strive with all your heart to avoid offending Him either in great or in small things; do not force Him to relinquish you and to deliver you over to the beastly disorders of sin; for you know that this would be a greater misfortune and punishment than if He consign you to the fury of the elements, or to the wrath of all the wild animals, or even to the rage of devils. If all these were to execute their anger upon you, and if the world were to heap upon you all its punishments and insults, all would do you less damage than one venial sin against the God Whom you are obliged to serve and love in all things and through all things. Any punishment of this life is less dreadful than sin; for it ends with mortal life, but the guilt of sin, and with it punishment, may be eternal."

448  "In this life any punishment or tribulation fills mortals with fear and dread, merely because it affects the senses and brings them in close touch with it through them, but the guilt of sin does not affect them nor fill them with dread. Men are entirely taken up by that which is visible, and they therefore do not look upon the ultimate consequences of sin, which is the eternal punishment of hell. Though this is imbibed and inseparably connected with sin, the human heart becomes so heavy and remiss that it remains as if it were stupefied in its wickedness, because it does not feel it present in its senses. Though it could see and feel it by faith, this itself remains listless and dead, as if it were wanting entirely. O most unhappy blindness of mortals! O torpid negligence, that holds so many souls, capable of reason and of glory, oppressed in deceit! There are not words or sentences sufficient to describe this terrible and tremendous danger. My daughter, hasten away, and flee with holy fear such an unhappy state, and deliver yourself up to all the troubles and torments of life, which pass soon, rather than incur such a danger; for nothing will be lacking to you, if you do not lose God. To be convinced that there are no small faults for you and for your state, is a powerful means of saving yourself; fear greatly the small things, for in despising small faults the Most High knows, that the human heart invites other greater ones. That is not a blameless love, which does not avoid all displeasure of the beloved one."  FROM THE MYSTICAL CITY OF GOD   (CONCEPTION)
